Face to face.

3 John 14 (NET): But I hope to see you right away, and we will speak face to face.

I love connection. No really, I thrive with it. A lot of people would claim to be an extrovert or introvert, but I don’t like to think in those terms (read this for my reason). I do believe in Gods sovereignty He moves us in and out of relationships, like a tide, according to His purposes in us, around us and through us. There is a season for connection and there is a time for soloing. Yet, in life the pattern we see most is the need for deep relationship. God himself exemplifies this. He is perfectly united in three persons never needing anything outside of Himself. He wanted human relationship. He created man to pursue relationship with Him and with each other.

When we forsake connection, we miss out on more than companionship. We miss out on one of the central aspects of progressive sanctification. God often uses those around us, the good and the bad, to mold us more into Christlikeness.

John hopes to see Gaius face to face. This letter is insufficient to express his concerns, praises and prayers.

We all saw this during COVID. Our lives were all so isolated. We became distanced and impersonal.

God saw Adam face to face in the garden. We will someday do the same. For now, let’s slow down and take the time to get together, break bread and enjoy each other. Let’s work through the difficulties and differences. Let’s bless each other and spend time in prayer together.

I hope connection for all of you.

Peace be with you.
