“On the contrary, when they saw that I had been entrusted with the gospel to the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been entrusted with the gospel to the circumcised…” Galatians 2:7
There’s a sacred weight in the word entrusted.
It means something has been given to you—not just as a task, but as a calling. A mission. A deposit of purpose from the hands of God Himself.
In Galatians 2:7, we find two unlikely men—Paul and Peter—each entrusted with gospel assignments that, from the outside, make little sense.
Paul, the ultra-orthodox Jewish scholar, a Pharisee of Pharisees… now entrusted with the message of grace to the Gentiles—people he once viewed as unclean, unworthy, and far from God.
Peter, the uneducated fisherman from Galilee… now commissioned to preach to his own Jewish brothers, including the very religious elite Paul once studied alongside.
If you were drafting a strategy for global evangelism, this probably wouldn’t be it.
But this is the upside-down kingdom of God.
It’s the way of the Spirit:
The learned sent to the “ignorant.”
The unlearned sent to the “elite.”
The sinner sent to the self-righteous.
The weak made strong.
The foolish shaming the wise.
This is the mystery of God’s calling.
Paul, who would have never spoken to Gentiles before Christ, now spends his life pouring himself out for their salvation.
Peter, who once stumbled in fear before a servant girl, now preaches boldly to rulers and elders.
Why?
Because God entrusts missions not based on merit, but on mercy.
Not on ability, but on availability.
Not on our résumé, but on His redemption.
And He’s entrusted something to you, too.
It might not be preaching to nations or planting churches, but maybe it’s faithfully leading your family, showing up at your job with integrity, speaking truth in love to your friends, shepherding a small group, teaching Sunday school, raising kingdom-minded kids, or just choosing faith over fear one more time today.
These assignments may seem small or even upside down—but God is using them for great victories in both the seen and unseen realms.
The question is not how impressive the task looks.
The question is: Are you faithful with what has been entrusted to you?
Because behind every public victory is a private act of obedience.
And behind every life changed is someone who just said yes to what God handed them.
So, be brave.
Do the work.
Lead where God has planted you.
Speak what He’s given you.
Carry what He’s entrusted to you—whether it feels fitting or not.
Because through His Spirit and His Church, God is working a strategy we could never dream up—but one that always brings Him glory.
And in His upside-down kingdom, that’s the only strategy that ever wins.
